The traditional Negroni, one of the most popular and well regarded cocktails in the world, was first made in Italy in 1919. A Florentine nobleman named Count Camillo Negroni reportedly wanted a stronger beverage than the typical Americano, which is made with soda, bitter, and red vermouth.

During one of his visits to England, the Count, who was a perceptive and inquisitive traveler, found gin, a spirit that mostly tastes of juniper berries. This prompted him to request that Fosco Scarselli, the bartender at Caffè Casoni in Florence, substitute gin for the soda, resulting in the creation of the renowned Negroni. The gin offers a floral and alcoholic flavor, the bitter adds a strong citrus bitterness, and the red vermouth adds a herbal sweetness, making this short drink stand out for its harmony of sweetness, bitterness, and alcoholic strength. The Negroni is still one of the most recognizable representations of Italian flavor and is perfect as an aperitif or an after-dinner beverage.

 

Offered in Ultra Brushed and Ultra Distressed versions, our Negroni, with a 40mm case, is equipped with the automatic Seiko NH34a movement featuring a GMT function and is water-resistant up to 300 meters. It is crafted with the same care and precision needed to balance gin, red vermouth, and bitter, the essential ingredients for creating the renowned and beloved Italian cocktail.
